Establish goals and strategies for how the PTA will communicate with parents, staff, and the community.
Determine key platforms (e.g., email, social media, newsletters) for sharing information.
Set a schedule for regular communication, such as monthly newsletters, weekly updates, or special announcements.
Manage the PTA’s social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
Create engaging posts to promote events, updates, and achievements.
Monitor social media platforms for comments, questions, and engagement from the community.
Ensure the PTA website is up to date with current events, forms, and important information.
Work with the school or PTA board to keep content fresh and accurate.
Post meeting agendas, minutes, and financial reports as required.
Promote PTA events and initiatives through flyers, emails, social media, and school announcements.
Create posters, banners, and other promotional materials for both digital and in-person events.
Coordinate with the event committees to ensure they have the necessary communication tools for outreach.
Develop and maintain a consistent voice and branding for all PTA communications.
Ensure that the PTA’s mission and goals are reflected in all external communications.
Standardize templates for emails, newsletters, and flyers to create a cohesive look.
Work with school administration to coordinate communication efforts and ensure alignment with school policies and messaging.
Collaborate on joint communications when necessary, such as for large events or school-wide initiatives.
Gather input from parents regarding PTA communication efforts (e.g., surveys on preferred platforms or topics).
Implement feedback to improve communication methods and effectiveness.
Create opportunities for two-way communication between parents and the PTA, such as Q&A sessions or comment forms.
Communicate volunteer needs for PTA committees, events, and initiatives.
Use various communication channels to encourage parent participation and make it easy for them to sign up.
Highlight volunteer success stories and appreciation through social media or newsletters.
Develop programs, brochures, or handouts for PTA meetings, events, and fundraisers.
Ensure all print and digital materials are clear, concise, and visually appealing.
Coordinate with event chairs to create materials such as tickets, invitations, and thank-you notes.
Promote upcoming PTA meetings through emails, social media, and flyers.
Ensure meeting dates, times, and agendas are communicated clearly in advance.
Send post-meeting summaries or minutes to the community for transparency.
Serve as a liaison between the communications committee and other PTA committees to support their promotional needs.
Assist committee chairs in developing messaging and materials for specific initiatives or events.
Ensure all PTA committees’ activities are properly communicated to the school community.
Provide a year-end report to the PTA board summarizing communication efforts, including successes and areas for improvement.
Solicit feedback from the board and school community to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies.
Propose improvements or changes for the next school year based on feedback and experiences.
